Lord David Trumbull, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, nominated Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, for the Nobel Peace Prize, after signing the historic peace treaty between the two countries. According to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, Lord Trumbull nominated Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Benjamin Netanyahu for the award in its next edition. Trumbull, former Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, won the award in 1998 for his efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Northern Ireland. According to the award rules, the nomination of one of the previous prize winners must be discussed by the organizing committee. The historic peace treaty between the UAE and Israel, signed last September, was widely welcomed by politicians and officials worldwide, as a step that supports the security and stability of the region.
